The Procedure

1) "The Rough"

Animals are brushed out, nails are cut, ears cleaned, pads and privates clipped, and if a haircut is being given, excess hair is cut and the basic are set. Matts are either brushed or clipped depending on the severity. We will not hurt an animal to save the coat.

3) "The Fluff"

Shorthaired dogs and cats are pre-dried in a cage. Only warm or cool air is used. Animals are in our constant view and frequently checked. Longhaired animals are hand dried on the table. Cats and shorthaired dogs are also dried thoroughly on the tab!

3) "The Finish"

Animals with shedding coats are shedded out. Haircuts are finished. Trims are given when requested. Everything is inspected again to be sure it's done to perfection and bows or bandanas are added for the finishing touch.

A few other things you should know about your pets stay at The Shaggy Dog: we offer liver treats and healthy cookies periodically, unless you request your pet not have treats. We will offer water or food if you send it, though most pets are too interested in what's going on around them to eat or drink. We will also curb your dog if you request it or if they are spending the whole day with us.

2) The Bath

A mild, tearless shampoo is used to wash the faces of all pets. The appropriate shampoo is then selected for that pet from a variety of high quality, detergent free shampoos. Conditioners are also selected for the individual. You may send your own products if you wish.
